What we have here are actually a pair of Sukhoi Su-17's. Developed as variable sweep wing fighter bombers around a decade after the mig-21 which probably indicates a lot of the design choices were done on the cheap taking the vast majority of components from its older mig sister. It was, however the first soviet variable sweep wing aircraft, so not entirely void of innovation.
