Moving onwards, this one’s an absolute beauty – after chatting with several petrol heads it’s a tie between whether or not this is a 1955 jaguar mk7 or a 1959 jaguar mk2. I’m generally leaning towards the latter, due to its larger radiator grille which was more pronounced in the mk7. The car was an unexpected success in the UK, with the car tax at that time penalising buyers of larger-engined cars Jaguar didn’t expect to sell many. However it went into production just as Britain's postwar economic austerity began to ease, and it paved the way for much larger volumes of sales than models before it. Unfortunately it’s hard to imagine this example finding restoration given the state of the chassis, but never say never!
