One of the most iconic artefacts preserved from the old hall is this chimney piece that was taken from the main hallway and moved to the chapel when it was rebuilt. It was originally crafted to memorialise the 1611 marriage of Peter Leycester of Tabley to Elizabeth Mainwaring, a daughter of Sir Randle Mainwaring of Over Peover, Cheshire. (This isn't my image, I took it from Wikipedia as I'm relatively certain walking into the chapel with muddy boots and a wiff of trespass wouldn't have gone down too well)
