Otherwise known as ‘Preston Brook Junction’ is a waterway junction of the Bridgewater Canal’s Preston Brook Branch with the Bridgewater Canal Main Line that we have been following thus far. Its sole purpose was to provide a meeting point for boats to come to and from the much older Trent & Mersey canal that heads towards Dutton and into Northwich. There is little information online as to the origins of this bridge and as to whether or not it was part of the original bridges put in place by James Brindley. The arched banks of the bridge are of similar brick construction, but the bridge itself is of metal and carries what is presumably a gas pipeline on its eastern side. It also doesn’t appear to be listed – I have made some enquiries and if possible I will update the listing with more information. GPS Coordinates: 53.324129, -2.651683
