As our last stop ends before heading home we look back onto the road behind us, mostly unchanged after decades of use, with a single telephone and electricity line running to the next lonely homestead a quarter mile down the valley. The fact that these places have stayed this way despite the fast-pace of life around the country gives you that reassuring feeling that time doesn’t always move as quickly as we might think. If you ever find yourself driving these old roads, do a double take if you spot one of these little chapels – there are hundreds just waiting to tell their own story!
