It's hard to translate these rare welsh plaques on location due to lack of phone signal, but this roughly translates into 'Places of worship of the independents'. Known by many as non-conformists, the independents sought to run churches which could appoint their own ministers and officers and be self-governing in all their affairs of spiritual oversight and administrative and financial organisation. To a large extent congregations worked out their own system for themselves while drawing what assistance they could from practice elsewhere. Independents believe their model of church governance fulfils the description of the early church and allows people the most direct relationship with God. In laymans terms, these people were practising what they saw as the raw version of christianity, unchanged and unaffected by outsiders.
